Eddie has been involved in the running club at school. It is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. They meet once a week after school for an hour of running or running games. At first, he really really didn't want to it. I had to beg the Phys Ed teacher to let him in. We named him Edward after all, after my dad. See here. But, after the first meeting, he did better and has really enjoyed it.
The latest course has you following a white line around the school grounds and into the woods. We have these great trails behind the school for walking, so the kids are excited to go back there.
Ben and I helped direct traffic one day because we didn't want any kids taking the wrong trail. The white line starts disappearing a bit if too many leaves get kicked around.
The kids have learned to pace themselves, run on weekends and support each other no matter where you finish.
After Eddie emerged from the woods, he had a great kick across the fields. I'm really proud of him for sticking with it. He is a great runner and a top finisher (if this proud mommy must say so herself!) and completed his first cross country mile.

This is GREAT. We are so proud as well. RUN EDDIE, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As my college coach would say when a distance runner asked how he should run a certain race, coach would reply, "Start out fast and then accelerate." Keep up the good work. Have FUN!
