Nature Hike

Last Sunday, Peirce and I took the boys to Kent Island, MD for an overnight trip. We wanted to get some new scenery close-by and also sort of experiment with both boys in a hotel room to see if anyone woke up at 4 a.m. (which they didn't, thank goodness) Before we checked into the hotel, we stopped at Wye Island Natural Resource Management Area. It was bitter cold, but we wanted to go for a hike and hopefully see an eagle since we were right on the water.
We took a trail down to the water and the boys enjoyed exploring. On the "beach" however, we did not find any eagles, but we found many vultures having a true feast on a dead and decomposed deer. I took a picture of it, but I will not force you to witness it. The boys had fun playing in the sand and we tried to stay warm because the wind was so intense. When it was time to go, Eddie and Ben proceeded to whine the entire way back to the car. Of course, our picture perfect moment was gone all too soon which usually happens. Why do I never learn? I should know that with every high comes a low with these two.
