It is March, but I wanted to post some pictures from February. Over President's Weekend, we took a trip to Orange, VA. We got a deal for a free hotel room (a suite!), so there was tons of room. We visited downtown Charlottesville and had lunch. Then, we visited a friend of Eddie's from school last year.
This is Karam. His family is from Jordan and gave us some fantastic Mediterranean food to fill our bellies. We wish they hadn't moved to Charlottesville, but they run a store there selling Mediterranean food and wares. It is really cool.
The temperature was freezing that weekend to say the least, but we managed to get out of the car for a little bit! We wanted to take the boys to see Montpelier, home of James Madison. There is a train depot on the main road which taught us a lot about segregation at the time. You can see the labels on the doors.
We walked around the Montpelier grounds and were still freezing, but we found this awesome tree stump. It was huge!
Apparently, these were life sized statues of James and Dolley Madison. They were tiny!
When Peirce and I were dating, he got a picture of me in this Ice House (where Mr. Madison stored ice underground). Here I am years later with two kids hiding in the picture. Life keeps moving along, doesn't it?
This is now the front of the house. When we were last here, they were doing renovation to return the house to its original state as James Madison had it. The DuPont family bought it after the Madison's owned it and added levels and painted it yellow. So, now it is back to brick and a few levels have been removed. It was beyond windy and freezing at this point, so this is where we ran back to the car and blasted the heat.
And when we got home to Baltimore, we woke up to this:
More snow! But, spring is on the way now!
