Last week, we traveled to Wilmington, NC to visit Peirce's dad and Sybil. The boys were happy to see the beach.
I was happy to see my dogs.
Bodie
and Joey. They are sweet dogs. Although, Bodie took a bite of my pork one night. Can't blame him. He is tall enough to reach the table and we all had our eyes closed saying grace.
On the 4th of July, we hung out. I tried to spend as much time as possible on the porch reading my book. I could get used to that life.
We had a burger and hot dog lunch. Thanks Peirce for the grilling! (He even grilled Eddie and Bobo's grilled cheeses.)
We took a scooter ride to the pier. I think this picture should be an advertisement to buy this house. Good posing boys!
We looked at the crabs and blue tailed skink.
That night we had some dinner.
Then took a walk to the pier where we were greeted with beautiful skies and clouds.
Ahh heaven....
So majestic.
Happy 4th of July!
We tried to do sparklers, but then it got too windy. Ben and Peirce watched the fireworks from the pier.
The next day, we headed to the marina to take a ride on Granddaddy's boat.
Eddie and Meg ready? Check!
Ben ready? Check!
Hold on tight Eddie! Granddaddy loves to hit the waves!
But then Eddie got a turn to drive. Way to go Captain Eddie!
We had dinner at the beach club that night
and then headed to Airlie Gardens for a summer concert. This place was beautiful. We are sitting in front of the Airlie Oak which is estimated to be more than 400 years old. It was gorgeous!
The kids were happy with their unlimited supply of peanut butter and crackers.
They decided to make a double headed monster too.
We walked around and got some posed shots.
And Granddaddy made funny faces to make the kids laugh in this photo. I was just happy to be near so much spanish moss.
The next morning we headed to Richmond. The drive was rough, but we were happy to get there and hang out for the afternoon and evening. I got some Trader Joe's shopping in and we had a yummy dinner at Cacky and Rupert's. The next morning we were Baltimore bound and back to life without central air conditioning....or spanish moss. Until next time down south.
