For Score and Seven Years Ago

For score and seven minutes ago
Our Lady of Victory School put on a show
It was a Living Wax Museum for second grade
So many costumes, bought and homemade

Each student had to complete a book report
And then give a presentation of some sort
Eddie chose Abraham Lincoln as the person he admired
And there I was sewing a beard until I tired

But boy he looked cute
In his hodge podge suit
He held his scroll in which was written
The Emancipation Proclamation

Up to the front of the class he went
He gave good eye contact and talked about the 1 cent
He admired Abe Lincoln because he helped free the slaves
My boy made me proud with the speech that he gave

There were many people to admire and oh what a slew
Mae Jemison, Dr. Seuss, Rosa Parks to name a few
The second graders should be commended
For their oral portion of their grade has ended

So next time you need a president to deliver a speech
Come to Baltimore. There is one within reach.

  1. Daniel Day Lewis has nothing over Eddie Macgill. Where is that Academy Award?
