This past Monday, Peirce and Eddie had off for Martin Luther King Day. We decided to take a day trip to Annapolis. We hadn't been there together as a family so thought that would be a fun and close place to head for the day. The state house was a lot of fun.

I kept picturing Eddie or Ben in a seat on the Senate floor. A mother can dream.

But, I was mesmerized by the gorgeous shiny tile floors. A photographer's dream with the light coming in.

After we loitered for a while under the No Loitering sign, we headed to the Banneker-Douglass Museum named for Benjamin Bannker and Frederick Douglass. Since Martin Luther King Day is the National Day of Service, we wanted to go the museum so the boys could have some opportunities to do some crafty things for others.

Our first stop was a dream or wish board where you could post what your dream was.

This was Ben's (in my handwriting)...

and Eddie's. Since Eddie lately wants to be an architect or designer, this was a perfect dream for him.

After stating our dream, we went into another part of the museum to make cards for seniors and disabled people in a senior home.

Ben is quite proud of his work, but is a little worried when I tell him we need to turn it in for them to give to someone else. He figures it out though.

This museum had a great art exhibit by an artist named Loring Cornish. He uses found objects to create magnificent mosaic works of art. This Montgomery Bus Boycott piece was at least 6 feet across and was made of sneakers. Seeing his work and the museum was a great way to celebrate the day.
