This past weekend, we went to Washington, D.C. to spend time with the rest of the Macgill side of the family. Peirce's mom got us all a hotel room in Alexandria. We spent the days touring, the afternoons near the pool, and the evenings eating at yummy restaurants.
On Friday, we got to town before the rest of the family, so we took the boys to the George Mason memorial, Jefferson and Lincoln memorials and Korean memorials. It was a pretty day and we lucked out with a break in the brutal heat.

On Saturday, the whole family took the metro from Alexandria to the mall and we went to the National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of Natural History. The kids had a fun time and Eddie's favorite part was seeing the plethora of animal skeletons, complete with a penguin skeleton. Unfortunately, I left my camera sitting on the floor of the car so captured no family photos that day. I was relieved when I got back to the car and it was still there!
Unfortunately, Ben got croup and his breathing was pretty bad by Sunday morning, so we had to bolt out of town and head to the ER. He is feeling much better today, although still mellow. Even so, we had a wonderful weekend and feel so lucky to live as close to our nation's capital as we do!
