Our summer vacation this year led us north to the border. Our first stop was to eat our picnic lunch in Pennsylvania. We found a state park that was the perfect spot for us to get out and stretch.
They even had a dam and we knew this would not compare to the rushing water of Niagara Falls, but it was still so pretty.
Our first night was spent in Buffalo. I absolutely loved this city. Not only were there buffalo statues everywhere (and that is my favorite animal), but it was just a neat town and reminded me of a smaller Baltimore. The neighborhoods were cute and I could see living there if I could stand the cold winters!
We walked along the canal and waterfront and found some funny picture opportunities. This is Ben with the Shark Girl Statue. Apparently, she is a phenomenon.
Buffalo has a minor league baseball team, the Buffalo Bisons...I am in heaven! But, we didn't get to go to a game. They did have some seats randomly placed along the waterfront so we got this funny picture.
This is the Buffalo River and the Buffalo Naval Park.
All we did was get out of the car to take pictures with buffalo statutes. No, really, we had a blast playing and exploring this awesome city.
We visited the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site where he took the oath of office after President McKinley was shot at the Pan Am Expo in Buffalo. Our tour guide was great and the boys enjoyed it too.
We also went to the Anchor Bar....THE place where buffalo wings were invented. The place opened at 11 a.m. and we got there around 10:50 and the line was already this long.
But, Peirce was a happy camper!
Next up was Niagara Falls! We checked into our hotel room and then took a walk to the falls for our first viewing.
We were all so excited to see Ben's reaction. He kept his eyes closed until we got there. This boy loves waterfalls and is probably the reason we chose this as our vacation destination.

At night, they light up the falls. But, it was nearing 9:30 and you know that is my bedtime, so this was as good as it got.
We stayed on the American side. Those are Horseshoe falls in the background of this photo.
The next morning, we took a ride on the Maid of the Mist!
It was fun! This is the only photo that was taken because Peirce didn't want to risk losing his phone!
After the boat ride, you can walk up the mist trail to get close to the falls. You can see the people behind us further up the trail.

Later that day, we walked into Canada on the Rainbow Bridge.
A lot of people stopped to take a picture between the two countries.
And we waited in line for about 30 minutes to get through customs.
The view from Canada was so pretty. These are the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls is the small one on the right.
The Canadian side greeted us with lots of tourist traps and chaos. So we just walked around and checked things out for a bit.
Time to head back to America. What a lovely day!
