Happy Summer! We finished out the school year with some fun activities.
Ben's team, the Keezletown Yankees, made it to the championship game in his Minor league division. The team played great and lost 4-3 in the last inning. But, they had a great little ceremony after the game where the runners up got awesome medals.
Despite some tears from some of the players (which shall remain nameless) for various reasons, most of them were all smiles for the team photo. We had great coaches and really enjoyed the instruction this year.
And it was great to see the kids from both of the teams get along so well. The Angels were an undefeated team and the last time we played them, we lost to them in an absolute heartbreaker, so it was good that the kids could shake that off and be friendly. Kids teach us the best lessons.
Ben was happy with his cool baseball medal.
The following week, Eddie received a Math award from his teacher at the Honor Club awards reception. He also received straight A's all year and received another certificate. So wonderful to see these smart and kind kids in middle school.
And happy last day of school! Dairy Queen for the boys!
Today, Peirce participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run. (that is him in the red shirt on the left....the tall guy in purple is holding the torch) They ran from downtown Harrisonburg south to near Staunton for about 19 miles. It was a nice chilly morning for it! A bus filled with water and bananas followed along, complete with motorcycle police escorts. If you got tired, you could hop on the bus for a bit until you felt like running again.
Here are Peirce and his coworker looking good! Congrats guys!

Congratulations to the ENTIRE family ------ especially the little people!
